Malta’s capital Valetta is as much a town as it is a fortress and this armoury has the matching tools.
The most extraordinary exhibit is this cannon made of ropes, reinforced with clay. While the construction was certainly not very durable, the cannon could be lugged around by four men, also in difficult terrain.
This small brass cannon bears the arms ofthe Maltese Order and those of Grand Master Pinto (1741-1773). On the cascabel is the inscription “GIANCHINO TRIGANCI -F- 1765”, the signature of the maker.
